Construction is about to start on a new classroom building for Finton House School in Clapham, London SW17.

With a shortage of playground space, planning constraints and Preservation Orders on existing trees, the only way for the designers to create the desired space was to go “down”; 85% of the new building is to be below ground level and will provide 3,750sqft of new teaching space.  A glass “slot” lined with laminated glass, digitally printed with an impression of Lime trees, will provide natural light & ventilation and an uplifting outlook from the new classooms below ground level.

The construction programme is set to take 36 weeks and will be undertaken with the School in full occupation.  We are of course working very closely with the School to minimise disruption to all the staff, pupils, parents and neighbours.
