James Dinwiddie

James Dinwiddie graduated from Manchester University with a Distinction in 1979. After a short spell working first with Casson Conder & Partners and then Trevor Dannatt & Partners, where he was project architect for the British Embassy in Riyadh, SA, James started his own practice. In 1986 James went into partnership with Graeme MacLaren and the practice Dinwiddie MacLaren Architects was formed.

James has managed the practice for 25years during which time it has built a reputation for design excellence and practical solutions in a variety of building sectors. James has personally been responsible for many projects for schools, residential, commercial and retail clients.

In 2006 James helped to establish Team London Bridge as one of the first and successful Business Improvement Districts in the UK, and continues acting as Chairman. James has also played an active role in the RIBA, serving as Chairman of North East Thames Architectural Society, a London Region Committee Member, and on the RIBA Design Award Panel.


Graeme MacLaren

Graeme MacLaren graduated from Manchester University in 1979 where he was awarded the Manchester Institute of Builders Travel Scholarship for design work.

Prior to co-founding Dinwiddie MacLaren Architects, Graeme gained extensive experience in private practice with Abbey Hanson Rowe and Partners and later with Casson Condor and Partners working on numerous high-profile commercial, residential and retail developments.

Since the establishment of Dinwiddie MacLaren Architects in 1986, Graeme has given the practice considerable expertise in high-end commercial developments from inception to completion. With his extensive knowledge of the building industry and a thorough understanding of planning and local authority requirements, the practice is able to respond rapidly and provide cost effective solutions for all sites. Innovation and imagination has often led to unforeseen development opportunities. Graemeā€™s design skills are also informed by a deep interest and knowledge in building technology acquired through many years experience in the building industry.
